The short version
This site has no contact form, no newsletter, no analytics, no advertising, and sets no cookies of its own. Nothing is asked of you and no record of you is kept here. Three things still involve data, and each is described below.
Who is responsible
This site is run by WE4N@+, a sole proprietorship based in The Hague, Netherlands, which is the data controller for everything described on this page. Contact details are in the Office section of the homepage.
Server logs
Like any web server, the host records a line for each request: IP address, time, the page requested, the referring page, and the browser's user agent.
The legal basis is legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR — keeping the site running and defending it against abuse. The logs are not linked to anything else, not used to profile visitors, and not exported anywhere. They are rotated and deleted by the host on its normal schedule.
Audio players
The Music section can load players from SoundCloud. They do not load until you press Play. Once you do, SoundCloud receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, under its own privacy policy rather than this one. SoundCloud is based in the United States. If you never press Play, nothing is sent to them.
Web fonts
Typefaces are requested from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
Where the data goes
The site is hosted in Japan, a country the European Commission has recognised as providing an adequate level of data protection, so no additional transfer safeguards are required. Traffic is served through Cloudflare, acting as a processor, which may cache pages in data centres worldwide. The two third parties named above receive data in the United States under their own terms.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may request access to data relating to you, ask for it to be corrected, deleted or restricted, object to its processing, or receive it in a portable form. Because this site holds only short-lived server logs, there is usually nothing to hand over — but you are welcome to ask, and there is no charge.
You may also lodge a complaint with the Dutch supervisory authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes
If how this site handles data changes, this page changes with it.
